"Sacrificial Worship" is a term that refers to the offering of animal sacrifices in conjunction with the Eidiladha festival. Sacrifice is a practice that involves the slaughter of certain animals with the aim of drawing closer to Allah SWT at the appointed time.

Sacrifice is not only the best way to get closer to God, but also as an indicator of a servant's piety to the Almighty. This is based on Allah's word in Surah al-Maidah verse 27 which means, "Indeed Allah only accepts (Sacrifice) from the pious." The next verse in Surah al-Hajj verse 37 also mentions, "The camel's flesh and its blood can never reach (the pleasure of) God, but it is your piety that can achieve it."

Sacrifice performed with obedience, piety, and sincerity will receive a great and manifold reward from Allah SWT. As stated in the Prophet's hadith which means, "Each strand of hair will bring one good thing." (HR. Ahmad and Ibnu Majah).

However, in performing the Qurbani there are some prohibitions that need to be taken into account. When entering the month of Zulhijjah (1st of Zulhijjah), it is recommended for individuals who want to sacrifice not to cut the hair on their head, face, or body, nor to cut their nails until they have finished slaughtering the sacrifice. This prohibition is based on the hadith narrated by Umm Salamah R.anha, that she heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say, "Whoever has a sacrificial animal to be slaughtered, then when he sees the new moon of Dhul Hijjah, he should not take anything (i.e. cut) from his hair or his nails until he finishes the sacrifice." (Hadith narrated by Imam Muslim).

According to some scholars, this prohibition is understood as haram to cut hair, pluck hair from the body, and cut nails. However, the more popular opinion is that this prohibition is makruh tanzih, that is, it is not prohibited but it is better to avoid it.

Among the wisdom expressed by Imam Nawawi Rahimahullah in his syrah is prohibition of cutting nails and hair for people who want to perform the Qurbani worship is to free their body parts from hell fire. There is a weak opinion that states that it resembles the state of ihram in which a person is forbidden to cut hair, shave, cut nails, and some other prohibitions.

In conclusion, according to the opinion of the majority of scholars, performing the Qurbani worship is a muakkadah circumcision for able-bodied individuals. The opinion in the Syafie school states that the sacrifice is a circumcision that must be done once in a lifetime. The Maliki School, on the other hand, believes that abandoning the Qurbani worship is makruh for those who are able to do it. For those who vow to sacrifice, performing the Qurbani is obligatory.

Wallahua'lam.
